The long-awaited Prince Naseem Hamed biopic, Giant, is finally heading to U.S. theatres in early 2026 — and the first trailer confirms what boxing fans hoped for: this film is going big.
Amir El-Masry stars as the featherweight showman himself, while Pierce Brosnan steps into the role of the late, iconic trainer Brendan Ingle. Sylvester Stallone also joins as executive producer, giving the project an unmistakable boxing pedigree before a single punch is thrown on screen.

A Film Naz Fans Have Wanted for Years

Written and directed by Rowan Athale, Giant tells the story of Hamed’s rise from a Sheffield corner shop to the bright lights of world championship glory. Athale says bringing the Naz–Ingle relationship to the big screen has been his dream for years calling it “hilarious, heartbreaking and cinematically thrilling.”
Anyone who lived through “Nazmania” knows that isn’t marketing talk. The film had its festival premiere in London and will open the Red Sea Film Festival in December, reflecting its international appeal and the legendary status Hamed still holds.

The Cast Bringing Boxing’s Most Explosive Era to Life

El-Masry captures Hamed’s electric ring presence, while Brosnan plays Ingle the eccentric, brilliant trainer who helped mould Naz from a bullied kid into a world-beating superstar. The cast also includes Katherine Dow Blyton, Arian Nik, Austin Haynes, and others portraying the key figures around the champion’s orbit.

Multiple age versions of Hamed appear in the film, tracking his trajectory from childhood talent to global phenomenon, complete with the flamboyant in-ring theatrics that made him a household name.

A Champion Who Redefined More Than Boxing

Naz wasn’t just a fighter he was a cultural earthquake.
With 36 wins, 31 knockouts, and charisma that could light up an arena on its own, Hamed became one of Britain’s most recognisable Muslim athletes during a period of rising racism and Islamophobia. His confidence, his swagger, and his willingness to represent who he was loudly made him an icon far beyond the ropes.

His ring walks, his flips, his switch-hitting combinations, his grin in the middle of danger… nobody looked like Naz. Nobody fought like Naz.
And that’s exactly why a film about him was inevitable.

The Heart of the Story: Naz and Ingle

At the core of Giant lies the turbulent relationship between Hamed and Brendan Ingle — a partnership built on love, friction, genius, and eventually, heartbreak.

Ingle, who passed away in 2018, was celebrated for his unorthodox methods and deep sense of community. Hamed once said he would never have become a champion without him, a sentiment the film weaves throughout its narrative.

A Production Years in the Making

The film has travelled a long road to the screen. AGC Studios first developed the project in 2020 before casting changes reshaped the production.
Filming began in Leeds in April 2024, with early set photos showing Brosnan physically transformed for the role. Stallone’s Balboa Productions joined the project alongside Tea Shop Productions and White Star Productions, giving the movie heavyweight backing on both sides of the Atlantic.

Early Reviews: Smooth in the Ring, Rough Between Rounds

The first critics’ responses suggest a mixed but passionate reception.
Some praise the performances and the authenticity of the boxing sequences, while others feel the drama between fights is uneven. The dynamic between Ingle and Hamed the film’s emotional engine reportedly lands in moments but misses in others.

Still, even critical reviews note that the story contains too much heart, humour, and cultural weight to ignore. The material itself swings hard, even when the film doesn’t always follow through.

A Story Too Big Not to Tell

Naz’s life has always been cinematic. The rise, the flash, the dominance, the fame, the friction, the fall, and the legacy it’s all there.
Giant aims to capture that full spectrum, from the laughs to the bruises to the bond between a boy from Wincobank and an Irish trainer who saw a champion before the rest of the world did.

Whether the film becomes a knockout or a points win remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: Prince Naseem Hamed finally has a big-screen story worthy of the name.
